Alternative: Compare 2D PAGE Gels Across the Internet

• Procedure:
  1. Get copies of both gel images
  2. Warp one gel to the geometry of the other gel
  3. Then visually compare images using flickering

• Key questions for researcher:
  1. How can we do real-time processing locally on our computers?
  2. How do we get data from the Internet and from researcher's local laboratory?

• Use the Internet to achieve this by:
  1. Get standard gel images with identified proteins from WEB databases and researcher's local computer file system
  2. Deliver software over Internet using Java "applets" which run on researcher's Web browser
