Create Pair of 2D Gel Images to Flicker Compare from 2DWG Meta-Catalog

You may Flicker compare any two of the gel images found in the 2DWG catalog of 2D gel images. This is a meta-database of 2D gel images found on the web. The catalog contains links to each image and also links for the corresponding Web databases where the gel images are described. These databases may also discuss the conditions under which the samples were acquired and run. This catalog is still under improvement. The gels listed in the scrollable selectors below are sorted by tissue type.

Because of Java security issues with web browsers, we are currently copying these images to our local Flicker server. We are working on a method whereby you can compare the image directly with other images on the Internet which are not in our 2DWG database.

Therefore, if the mappings are not obvious to you, you may want to check them. The mappings indicate the image URL and the corresponding Flicker GIF file names. We remapped the names using the our naming convention for gel images from the Internet.

To create Flicker compare two gels:

Flicker Image Comparison: Flicker is a Java program for comparing two images. See the Flicker home page for more information on Flicker.
  1. First select a different image from each menu. Note: you can only compare different images (not an image against itself).
  2. Then press Go Flicker to generate a Flicker comparison of this pair of images.
