FLICKER - comparison of two Plasma 2D PAGE gels

The data consists of two Plasma protein 2D PAGE electrophoretic gels. See the Flicker Reference Manual for more details on running flicker. The plasmaH (Hochstrasser Lab, Geneva) and the plasmaL (Merril Lab, NIMH, Bethesda) are some of the gels in the 2DWG meta-database. You can get a plasma gel subset of the 2DWG. Also, see the related Plasma Database which identifies some of the proteins in these gels). You can get data from that database from flicker if you 1) set the "Click to access DB" checkbox, and 2) click on a spot.

To navigate around an image, you can use the scroll bars and then click on the spot of interest. Hint: however, it is easier if you hold the CONTROL key and then click on a point in the image. This will center that point in the scrollable window. It will also display the (x,y) position of the cursor in that image at the top of that window. After you have done an initial alignment, you can move both images "ganged" together by clicking on a spot in either image with both the SHIFT and CONTROL keys pressed.

Click on the Flicker checkbox to turn flickering on or off. You align the images by navigating one of the two images as in the previous step until you are satisfied with the alignment.

You can set the "Click to access DB" checkbox and then click on a spot in the image, it will access related data from the associated database specifed by the URL if you have clicked on a spot in that database.
